About the image:
Built by Emperor Justinian in 547AD, Our Lady of Saidnaya is one of the oldest Christian monasteries in the world.
It is home to an icon of St. Mary attributed to St. Luke. The monastery is revered by both Christians and Muslims.
I made my first pilgrimage back in 1993. One of the nuns whispered to my wife that she was with child, and sure enough our daughter Shadya was born less than nine months later.
All of the proceeds from this event will be donated to International Orthodox Christian Charities and will be used to directly help the people of Syria.
